WELCOME TO DIGITAL WORCESTER
DW is a digital public history clearinghouse established by the Worcester Historical Museum and Worcester Polytechnic Institute’s Department of Humanities and Arts. It works with cooperating institutions to digitize, preserve and publish historical materials online and to collaboratively code big historical data through crowdsourcing activities.
YOUR CITY. YOUR PAST. MAKE IT HAPPEN.
Opening digital doors to our city’s past, DW offers free access to a wealth of historical materials from advertisements in historical city directories to annual addresses of the mayors to the turn of the century business news from Worcester’s Board of Trade. DW brings together both material scanned from the collections of Worcester Historical Museum and from large, online purveyors of digital content, like Google Books, Internet Archive, and Hathi Trust. With the contents of each volume fully searchable by keyword, DW makes it easier for you to discover your story.
